Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico first hospital in Europe to use this method
Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico, of the Lazio Regional Health System Network, is the first hospital in Europe to acquire the artificial intelligence system used in Wuhan Hospitals (China) for early diagnosis and monitoring of Covid-19 pneumonia. Artificial intelligence system can provide an answer in 20 seconds from analysis of lung CT images. The reliability rate is 98.5 percent and has been tested with complete success on blinded anonymized patients by radiology physicians at Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico, led by the Director of the UOC of Diagnostic Imaging Prof.

Chinese engineers, from the European company that came up with the technological solution, worked hard with Policlinico Campus Bio-Medico staff to install the artificial intelligence system and together developed it to suit Italian needs.
The artificial intelligence-based application, in addition to providing the immediate answer on the type of pneumonia (viral from Covid-19 vs. other diseases such as bacterial pneumonia, bpco, etc.), is able to calculate the volume of lung compromise expressed in cubic cm and thus provide an assessment of prognosis, improvement or worsening of the patient’s situation.
